Dear Madam,
A
Republic of Nauru
Office of the President
1st April 2016
Subject
Government of Republic of Nauru's satisfaction on Decision 1/CP21, Paragraph
22 on Communication of our First Nationally Determined Contribution
With reference to the UNFCCC 'Message to Parties' dated 9th of March 2016, Reference
CF/CFO/kf regarding Communication of first Nationally Determined Contributions under the
Paris Agreement, the COP invited Parties to communicate their first NDCs no later than when
the party submits its respective instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession of
the Paris Agreement. Also the COP further stated that if a party has communicated an intended
nationally determine contribution (INDC) prior to joining the Agreement, that party shall be
considered to have satisfied the provision of decision 1/CP21, paragraph 22.
The Government of the Republic of Nauru had submitted its INDC on the 17th of November
2015, therefore, does not need to submit its first NDC with the instrument of ratification. The
Government of the Republic of Nauru has fulfill the Paris Agreement decision 1/CP21,
paragraph 22.
The Government of the Republic of Nauru is informing the UNFCCC Secretariat that we are
satisfied with our INDC becoming our first NDC and our INDC can be uploaded to the interim
registry of NDCs.
Yours sincerely,
